What is pet insurance?
Pet insurance covers your pet's emergency medical expenses due to illness or accidental injury. Services covered often include x-rays, prescribed medications, surgery, hospitalization, ultrasounds, MRI/CAT scans, and chemotherapy. Some pet health insurance plans will also cover routine procedures, such as vaccinations, spaying, flea control and heartworm.
Though pets of any age can usually be covered, insurance premiums are often higher for older pets and for those with pre existing conditions or common hereditary conditions.
Some pet health insurance plans will also cover boarding fees, lost holiday expenses, accidental death and loss of pet costs.
