How does pet insurance work?
Pet insurance works much in the same way as human car insurance - you usually pay a yearly or monthly amount (premium), and the company will pay out for certain events relating to your pet, for example illness, injury and loss of your pet.
The most common use of pet insurance is to pay for veterinarian bills when the animal is ill or injured. Either your insurance company will pay the vet directly, or you will pay the vet and be reimbursed later by the insurance provider.
Always check the details of your pet insurance policy carefully to check how it works and that it covers all you will need it to. If in any doubt contact your pet insurance provider for clarification.
